- Cut out the transparent plastic from the macaroni box and fold the
spaghetti box to make a handle. Cut off the ends of the spaghetti box
to use for the bridge later on.
- Tape or staple the spaghetti box so it remains flat.
- Cut a slit in the macaroni box above the hole. Make a bridge by cutting
a T-shape from the spaghetti box lid that will later hold the strings
up. Option: Make a couple of different shaped bridges for experimenting
later on..
- Paint your pieces and set aside to dry.
- Place the bridge in its hole.
- String rubber bands over the macaroni box, the long way. You might
want to arrange the bands so that the thickest is on the left and the
thinnest is on the right.
- Attach the boxes together with tape or staples.
You're ready to play!
Go!
Place your new fiddle underneath your chin so that you're not touching
the rubber bands.
Pluck the "strings" to get a feel for the notes it can make.
Try different shaped bridges to see if you can play different notes
Play your fiddle with the rainbow piano and
other instruments (below).
