Arts Workshop Who are these Sculptors? Sculpture

Amy Brier Hi, I am Amy Brier.
I carve limestone and combine it with other materials such as sand, steel, wood and glass. I have always wanted to be an artist, and was encouraged by my artistic family.

My mother and 2 older brothers all went to art school. My grandfather had a costume jewelry factory. Even thought I never knew him and never saw his factory, I did work in other costume jewelry factories when I was young. I feel like I was influenced by this.

I pay a lot of attention to detail and work hard to make things just right. I like to make things beautiful and precious and as perfect as I can. I learned to carve limestone in the gothic tradition while working on the construction of a cathedral in NYC. Now I enjoy taking the traditional methods and applying them to contemporary ideas and concepts.
