Sculptors remove or take something away
Some sculptors carve. They remove parts until something
new is revealed.
Sculptors carve into clay, stone, ivory and wood.

They move materials together to create a new shape. To make a bronze
or plaster cast sculpture, the artist first makes a model from clay or
wax. The artist starts with a metal framework inside to support the clay.
After the model is done, a mold is made around the clay or wax model.
Liquid metal or plaster is poured into this mold. When it cools and hardens,
it looks like the original model.
Sculptors Assemble Things
Sculptors select and assemble interesting things. Assemblages catch our
attention by putting everyday objects together in unexpected and mysterious
combinations!
Sculptors Select
Sometimes an artist picks some common object and displays it in a unique
way or calls it something different. This makes you think about the object
in a new way.
Sculptors
construct or add things together.
Some sculptors use simple methods and ordinary materials: cardboard and
glue, metal and solder, wood and nails... Putting things together is one
way to construct sculpture. Very ordinary methods can create something
extraordinary!
