BarbieTM: The Fashion Experience Exhibit Returns for an Encore Engagement at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis

Friday, September 30, 2011

Due to popular demand, the successful exhibit Barbie™: The Fashion Experience will be back for a six-month encore at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. To celebrate the re-opening of this exhibit, Barbie™ will be making a special live appearance at The Children’s Museum with long time beau Ken™ as her date. The iconic couple (who reunited this past Valentine’s Day) will appear together to commemorate this special exhibit re-opening.

During the limited engagement encore run, never-before seen, life-size fashions created by Mattel design teams as a part of an internal competition to create the next Barbie™ ‘live appearance’ outfit will be on display. The competition to design this new outfit is currently underway and the top three designs will be showcased in the Barbie™: The Fashion Experience exhibit.

“Since the exhibit’s opening in December 2009, more than 1 million visitors have experienced this one-of-a-kind engaging exhibition dedicated to Barbie fashion and design,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “As visitors experience this exhibit and view dolls from the past 50 years they have been sharing their first memories of Barbie with their children and grandchildren who are today having their own first experiences with this special doll.”

Additional new exhibit features will be added to the engaging exhibition including dolls from the brand’s career-themed line, Barbie® I Can Be™…which encourages girls to ‘try on’ careers by allowing girls to experience the world and all its possibilities without ever having to leave home.

"We are thrilled to extend Barbie: The Fashion Experience to future museum visitors from around the world,” said Stephanie Cota, Senior Vice President Global Marketing, Barbie and Girls Brands. "The exhibit connects girls of all ages to Barbie's DNA of fashion, aspiration and cultural relevance with a rich, multifaceted interactive experience."

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy this interactive exhibition starting October 1st, 2011 through March, 2012.
