A television program entitled "What and Where" aired in Indianapolis during the fall of 1954. The show was hosted by Nanci Golden, daughter of the Museum's director Grace Golden. Annual attendance was 65,500 for 1957 and the museum purchased some additional property on 30th street between Meridian and Illinois Streets to expand. The mummy, Wenuhotep, came to visit on loan from the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute in 1959.
