The Children's Museum of Indianapolis recognized with ARTI Award
Recently, the Arts Council of Indianapolis presented its ARTI Awards during the 25th annual Start with Art luncheon to Marsh Supermarkets, Hoaglin Fine Catering, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, George & Peggy Rapp and Dorit & Gerald Paul. ARTI Awards recognize local businesses, corporations and individuals for their extraordinary commitment to the arts.
Start with Art is the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ only fundraiser, with more than 1,000 members of the city’s arts and business communities attending the event. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard spoke and author Peter Kageyama offered the keynote presentation.
ARTful Impact ARTI Award recipient: The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis—National Geographic Treasures of the Earth
The ARTful Impact ARTI Award recognizes an individual, an event, or an
institution that made a significant impact on the arts in central Indiana. It celebrates unique and lasting contributions to the arts. This year’s ARTful Impact ARTI was awarded to The Children Museum’s National Geographic Treasures of the Earth. Treasures of the Earth is a groundbreaking new exhibit that immerses children and families in the art and science of real life archaeology by transporting them into recreations of ancient cities.
Corporate Award recipient: Marsh Supermarkets
March Supermarkets received the award for the company’s generous support of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony on the Prairie. 2011 marks the 30th year with Marsh as the title sponsor of the series. In addition to its continued support of the ISO, Marsh is also a key sponsor of other community arts events.
Small Business Award recipient: Hoaglin Fine Catering
Hoaglin Fine Catering received the small business award for its dedicated service to countless arts organizations. As one of the leading local catering companies, Hoaglin provides superior food and beverage services to Clowes Memorial Hall, Joy’s House, Damien Center, WFYI, Habitat for Humanity Indianapolis, Indianapolis Art Center, Indiana Historical Society and Wheeler Mission.
Volunteer/Patron Award recipient: Dorit & Gerald Paul
Dorit and Gerald Paul’s strong commitment to the arts in Indianapolis is evident by the number of organizations they touch. The Pauls are actively involved in Herron School of Art and Design, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis Art Center, The Children’s Museum, Indianapolis Opera, Dance Kaleidoscope, Phoenix Theatre, and Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.
Volunteer/Patron Award recipient: George & Peggy Rapp
George & Peggy Rapp have a long standing legacy of supporting art and artists in Indianapolis, the state of Indiana and throughout the Midwest. The Rapps have served on the boards of the Heartland Film Festival, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Hoosier Salon Patrons Association, Indiana Historical Society, Hanover College, Indiana Landmarks, Riley Hospital and many others.
