ROSAT

ROSATROSAT image of moonThe ROSAT (Röntgen Satellite) Earth-orbiting X-ray observatory is an international mission. Its objectives include studying X-rays given off by the coronae of stars and locating and mapping X-rays given off by the remains of supernovae occurring in the Milky Way galaxy. The satellite was launched in June of 1990 and is now in an extended mission.
