Family Dinosaur Digs
Join us for family dinosaur digging fun at the Ruth Mason Quarry in Faith, South Dakota. Under the direction of museum paleontologists, your family can dig for dinosaur bones and ready them for their journey to The Children’s Museum Paleo Prep Lab for preparation and research.

The minimum age for all participants is 8. Proof of age may be required at registration.
The adventure begins with “Digging 101” at a nearby site as you look for small surface fossils, which can typically be kept. It continues as you dig for larger fossils at Ruth Mason Quarry.
Families arrange their own transportation to and from Faith and make their own reservations at the Prairie Vista Inn in Faith. Fees include transportation between the hotel and dig site, lunch, an on-site EMT, and all supplies. It does not cover transportation to Faith or lodging.

Digging at the site is weather dependent and if a dig day is canceled due to rain, refunds will not be given. Alternative programming will be provided in the event of a cancellation due to rain.
Make it a vacation!
Faith is approximately 3.5 hours northeast of Rapid City, S.D. You will need to arrange your own transportation to and from Faith and make your own reservations at the Prairie Vista Inn in Faith, S.D. The number is 605-967-2343. Please state that you are with The Children’s Museum.
