Every mineral's surface looks different, but there are several general ways

| Metallic luster looks like metal, of course. | A glassy luster is called vitreous. | A plastic-like luster is called resinous. | Adamantine luster is brilliant, as with this diamond. | Pearly luster has a shimmery appearance, like a pearl. | Silky luster has a soft look, just like silk. |
