guess! Some fossils are made of the soft tissues of a plant or animal. This
fur is from that great prehistoric elephant, the mammoth. When mammoths
walked the earth over 10,000 years ago, the climate was very cold. Some of them
fell into icy crevices in glaciers, where their bodies were frozen, only to
be "thawed out" many thousands of years later.
Crinoids look soft and flexible, like a plant. But these crinoid fossils do not preserve the soft parts of the creature. What are they?
