Scout Programs
The museum also offers the opportunity to sign up for programs with your Scout Troop. Programs exclusively for scouts provide an opportunity to explore museum galleries, and work with museum staff on fun and exciting activities.

After-school reservations are not accepted for peak visitation dates, which include school breaks, holidays, and weekends. Groups must have a minimum of 20 students to receive reduced admission. Registration closes two weeks prior to visit date.

THE PINKISH, PURPLISH, BLUISH EGG

Some people are afraid or unkind to others who seem different. Celebrate diversity in this live 13 minute puppet performance of a Bill Peet storybook, presenting the ideas of acceptance and positive action to our youngest visitors.
RUBY’S STORY: A THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE BRINGING HER STORY TO LIFE
Grades 3-8

Escorted by federal marshals, Ruby Bridges walked through threatening, angry crowds to get to first grade. Hear her story from those she inspired and imagine Ruby’s inability at such a young age to understand what was happening.
A GLIMPSE OF EGYPT: SEBOU

Location: Take Me There: Egypt, Level 2
Experience modern Egyptian culture firsthand by learning about an exciting Egyptian tradition! This adaptation of our cultural immersion program is designed for younger students, introducing them to a traditional Egyptian ceremony—the sebou. This joyous celebration, which welcomes a new baby to the community, began centuries ago and is still practiced today. Students are invited into the happy home where a child has just been born, and hear about the preparations and practices of the sebou. They have a chance to see, touch, and explore all of the items involved in the ceremony, learning about Egyptian culture while contrasting it with their own.
TREASURES OF THE TOMB

Whose tomb is this? Join the assistant to the archaeologist and search the tomb for clues to answer the question. Tomb walls will come to life through a flashlight-led tour ending with a discovery of how technology helps us find clues about those who lived in the past.

Experience Anne’s story through the eyes of those who lived it, and learn how grateful she was for the gift of writing. Anne wrote, “Who knows what will happen in the world, but if you share stories, if you remember, then you, too, are powerful.”
CHALLENGES IN ARCHAEOLOGY (CIA)
Grades 3-5
Tuesdays-3:30, 4:20 p.m.

Location: Room 102, Level 1
Take on the role of an archaeologist and make discoveries about ancient Egypt, China, and a 17th-century shipwreck. Students begin their investigation in the classroom by exploring the online virtual dig, then visit National Geographic Treasures of the Earth and apply 21st-century skills to unlock the main challenges in the exhibit. Students earn and walk away with their own archaeologist badge! Back in the classroom, they collaborate to analyze clues, formulate conclusions, and create a magazine cover article based on their findings.
CSI: EXPLORING THE WIND TUNNEL
Grades 3-5

20 students, 20 minutes Location: SciencePort in ScienceWorks gallery, Level 4
In SciencePort students will make models from a variety of everyday materials and test their models in a wind tunnel. Students will be asked to change the design of their craft to meet certain flight challenges. Students will predict how their craft will fly in the final wind tunnel showcase. This experience supplements the Flight Adventures planetarium show.
