The Children's Museum of Indianapolis Sets New Presidents Day Attendance Record!

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Presidents Day ActivitiesMore than 15,900 visitors converged on The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to celebrate Indiana’s presidential heritage with free admission. The result is the largest Presidents Day crowd ever at the museum.

An actor portraying our 16th U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln, brought stories to life about emancipation and freedom. While Honest Abe had little formal schooling himself, visiting children and families explored more about our past presidents through historic facts, fun crafts and activities.

Visitor Meeting Abe Lincoln“With it being an election year, this was the perfect opportunity for us to offer teachable family moments about our nation’s history,” said Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “Free admission is something we take great pride in offering throughout the year to help children and families who may be struggling through tough economic times. It also provides a chance to enjoy family learning together.”

Family Making $100 Bill BookmarksWith presidential portraits gracing American currency, the museum offered family programs to foster smarter spending, saving and sharing through PNC’s Grow Up Great program. Visitors also discovered Photoshop magic in infoZone as they created their portraits on $100 bill bookmarks and created "Things I Value" books to keep track of things that are important to them.
