What is photo silk-screen or how did Warhol do it?
Printmaking StudioAndy Warhol used a special process called photo silkscreen. The artist transfers a photographic image to clear acetate. Next, the acetate sheet is laid over a screen treated with a light-sensitive material. Exposing the screen to strong light brings out a photographic image. The screen is then used in the same processes as a stenciled image.

Warhol's The ShadowTo draw our attention to his Myths, Andy Warhol used some "Pop Art" tricks:

  • worked in large sizes, with image expanding to all four edges
  • used epetitions of repeating lines
  • used bright colors and smooth texture, much like a commercial sign
  • created a series of prints instead of just a single painting
