Print Studio
While visiting the exhibit, your students will make silk-screen prints to take home. The studio will include a work area and materials to cut out a stencil design, or you may wish to have your students do this prior to your visit.
To make a stencil, draw a design on paper and simplify the design into shapes. The stencil can be either one sheet of paper with shapes cut from the inside, or separate paper shapes arranged to create the design. Either way, ink will pass through the areas of the screen the stencil does not cover.
During your visit, students may create their own designs and print them in one color. Older students may experiment with using additional colors.
