Tumbling Clown
Clown Tricks
There were many kinds of tin toys, including clowns. Most of the tin toys you see here are circus clowns. Clowns do a lot of different things. Their main job is to make us laugh, but they do this in many ways. Some clowns are excellent gymnasts or acrobats. They are also trained actors.

A clown has to hit another clown, fall down, get hit and maybe even get "blown up" without anyone getting hurt. Clowns do a lot of running and so they need to be in shape.

Many learn to juggle and others perform magic tricks. But all clowns wear makeup and funny clothes, and all the children and adults who go to the circus can quickly recognize the clowns.

Who do you think made these tin toys, and when did they make them?
