THE GREEN FROG
There once was a green frog who never listened to his mother. He would not do what she asked, rather, he would do the opposite. If she said hop up the hill, he'd hop down the hill. If she said go to sleep, he'd stay awake.

If she said hurry up, he'd move very slowly.

One day, his mother became very ill and knew she was going to die. But she wanted to be buried on the mountain. Because she expected the green frog to do the opposite of what she requested of him, she asked him to bury her near the river.

After a few days, she finally died. The green frog began to regret terribly his bad behavior. He wished he would have listened to her: when she said hop up the hill, he wished he did just that. When she said hurry up. He wished he had been swift, and when she said go to sleep, he wished he had closed his eyes and drifted into deep sleep.

So now that she was no longer alive, he decided to follow her last request. He buried her near the river and everyday it rained he would cry, and cry and cry. That is why green frogs croak a lot on rainy days.

When it rains, the river could flood making it dangerous as a burial place.
