What is a play?
What is a play?
A play is a story brought to life on a stage.
To perform a play, you need actors, a place to perform and an audience.
In theatre, live actors perform plays in front of a live audience.
A play presents ideas through the actors' words, movements and actions.
In a play, actors bring the characters in the story to life onstage.

What do you need to do to put on a play?
You start with a good story written as a script.
You've got to have actors.
You need an audience and a place to do the play.
You can put on a play anywhere: in a theatre, in your classroom, in your basement or even in your back yard!

How can the same play be different every time?
Because it's live onstage! Every audience at a play is different.
Actors respond to the way the different people in the audience react to the play.
