Science
3.2.7 Ask "How do you know?" in appropriate situations and attempt reasonable answers when others ask the same question.

Tell your students not to take what the presenters say for absolute fact. Encourage them to ask the staff how they know this information and where they got it.

3.4.1 Demonstrate that a great variety of living things can be sorted into groups in many ways using various features, such as how they look, where they live, and how they act, to decide which things belong to which group.

After spending some time in Dinosphere, have the children group and sort the dinos in the gallery. Allow them to come up with the ways of sorting and then share with each other.

3.4.2 Explain that features used for grouping depend on the purpose of the grouping.

Dinosaurs are classified into categories according to their anatomy. Have the students develop their own set of dinosaur classification, state their purpose for the grouping and what features they are using to determine their groupings.

3.4.5 Give examples of some kinds of organisms that have completely disappeared and explain how these organisms were similar to some organisms living today.

Before going through the space, remind the children that dinosaurs have completely disappeared. Have them think about what other kinds of animals living today, might be similar to them.

Language Arts
3.1.6 Use sentences and word context to find the meaning of unknown words.

Some of the labeling in Dinosphere may have words that are new to your students. Have them read the text and use other clues in the space to help find the meaning to the unknown words.

3.2.2 Ask questions and support answers by connecting prior knowledge with literal information from the text.

Explain to the students that they will be learning new things in Dinosphere and it may remind them of some things that they already know about. Encourage them to use this prior knowledge to make connections with the new information that will see.

3.7.1 Retell, paraphrase, and explain what a speaker has said.

Let the children know that after they are done with listening to a presentation, that they will be required to summarize what was said. Then, after joining an Up-Close and Personal, have the students share what they learned.

3.7.3 Answer questions completely and appropriately.

Ask lots of questions while your students are visiting the gallery. Help them to answer the questions appropriately.
