Museum Apprentice Program
Projects
Summer Project
Youth work with teachers and staff from other departments in the museum to create a one-of-a-kind project. In 2008, they created a family gallery guide for the ScienceWorks exhibit. The project is entirely youth-created from the ground up and incorporates the arts, sciences and humanities of the chosen topic.
Dinosphere/Paleontology Lab
In the Paleo Prep Lab, youth stay busy cleaning and restoring real dinosaur bones, creating dinosaur molds and casts and sharing their knowledge with museum visitors. Youth also prepare fossils, casts and molds.
SciencePort® and the Biotechnology Learning Center
Through projects in both SciencePort® and the Biotechnology Learning Center, youth explore science using technology and team projects. They teach what they learn to museum visitors. Explore the BioTech Cool Green Tool and learn how museum staff teach families about DNA, stop-motion animation, cells and more!
The Museum Apprentice Program is supported by the D.J. Angus Scientech Educational Foundation. For more information about the foundation and the Scientech Club visit www.scientechclub.org/.
