2016 Spring Break Shatters Records!

Teenage turtles with attitudes and aliens and androids contributed to setting new spring break attendance records at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Overall attendance to The Children’s Museum during the three peak weeks of spring break was higher than it’s ever been in the 91-year history of the museum. The previous attendance record set in 2011 increased by three percent in 2016 with an additional 4,500 more visitors experiencing five full floors of interactive galleries designed for kids of all ages.

Members of The Children’s Museum came in record numbers during spring break too. The record set in 2015 was surpassed in 2016 by seven percent. This spring break season saw more than 4,200 additional member visits compared with last year.

“We are humbled and thrilled that tens of thousands of families from our wonderful city, state, and the nation are choosing our museum to enjoy their vacation time together,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “We always strive to provide families and children with extraordinary experiences that create everlasting memories. It’s an honor to see our visitors recognize that.”

In addition to the 11 permanent exhibits that visitors continue to enjoy, a strong lineup of rotating exhibits and experiences entertained and educated spring break visitors including:

Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Secrets of the Sewer™, Alien Worlds and Androids, Pirates and Princesses: Storybook Adventures and the popular Chocolate Slide in the Sunburst Atrium.
