Goodbye 2020! Hello 2021! Enjoy FREE Admission December 24th and a Family-Friendly December 31st Countdown to the Highly Anticipated New Year at The Children’s Museum

Visit Santa in Jolly Days Winter Wonderland at The Children's Museum of IndianapolisHo, ho, ho! Don’t miss the last chance to visit Santa before he travels the world surprising children with toys and gifts and it’s FREE! From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., explore all five floors of the world’s biggest children’s museum on Dec. 24, 2020. Find Santa waiting to hear last minute wishes and dreams in Jolly Days Winter Wonderland, a kid-favorite annual holiday exhibit where sock skating, castle climbing memories are made (masks and social distancing required).

Due to COVID-19 limited capacity, FREE tickets are required and must be reserved in advance. Go to https://www.childrensmuseum.org/christmas-eve or call 317-334-4000 to reserve museum tickets. 

Countdown to Noon takes place on December 31, 2020.

Say goodbye to a challenging 2020 and ring in 2021 with a festive, family-friendly countdown to the new year. Two celebrations beginning at 11:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. let kids be part of the party but at a reasonable time for families. Countdown to Noon celebrations are FREE with general admission. 

Due to COVID-19, the museum has limited capacity (masks and social distancing required). It is recommended visitors purchase tickets in advance by clicking on https://www.childrensmuseum.org/visit/buy-tickets or by calling 317-334-4000. This event is expected to sell out.

The annual New Year’s Eve event is typically held in the museum’s Sunburst Atrium. This year, to accommodate safe social distancing, two countdowns will be held in the Lilly Theater. Socially distanced seats will be available during both shows on a first-come, first-served basis. Both celebrations will also be broadcast live in the Sunburst Atrium.

  • Enjoy the fun and kid-friendly music by Grammy-nominated musician Zak Morgan. Both performances will be broadcast live in the Sunburst Atrium.
  • Receive a festive special flag to wave during the countdowns. (No confetti this year due to COVID-19 concerns)

Throughout The Children’s Museum enjoy New Year related activities:

  • New Year’s Around the World: Discover how to send New Year’s greetings to friends all over the world. Can you match the language to the country? Learn how to pronounce New Year’s greetings in different languages.
  • 2020 Paper Time Capsules: What a year! Celebrate the end of another year by creating paper time capsules to capture all of the lessons learned and memories made in 2020. 
  • (New) History as it Happens: Teens in the Museum Apprentice Program are collecting stories about COVID-19 for a video project! They will survey visitors of all ages in fun and engaging ways.
