10 Years of Impact at The Power of Children Awards | Infographic

The Power of Children Awards is in its 11th year of selecting 4 to 6 youths in grades 6–11 who have made extraordinary differences in the lives and communities of others. This infographic, which was created for the 10th Anniversary of the awards last year, depicts the amazing ways in which the 50 winners and their projects have made an impact. Those of us who manage the awards and the winners are extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work with them. When the winners are all gathered together, we know that our future is in good hands; that the world is a better place because they, individually and collectively, have made a difference and want to continue to do so. The Power of Children award winners also teach and mentor youths in grades 5–11 at the Power of Children Awards Symposium, so that the attendees can also become philanthropists and develop projects on their own .

If you really look at the impact report numbers, I think you will be astonished. And, perhaps you will be incentivized to do something to make a difference yourself. It doesn’t have to be a huge thing, just think of someone else or about your own school or community and consider how you can help. Sometimes we won’t know about our own impact when we do something, but I guarantee you will feel better for trying. So many of our winners reference how it just takes one person at a time to extract change. How will you make a difference?

Do you know a youth in grades 6–11 who has seen a need, created a new project to meet that need, and is already making an impact? If so, we encourage you to nominate the youth for this year’s awards at childrensmuseum.org/poca. The deadline for both the adult nominator and youth nominee submissions is midnight, March 22, 2015. Don’t wait! Help us find the 2015 winners who deserve to be recognized.
