Hi everyone! I’m Amanda and I am so thrilled to be working with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. I grew up going to the Indianapolis Zoo, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, taking walks on the Indianapolis Canal, spending weekends at the library downtown, and taking trips to the Indiana State Museum. But my absolute favorite was always The Children’s Museum. My dad lived downtown and when we would go to his house on the weekends we would always drive past the museum, and even if we weren’t stopping that day, it was always something I looked forward to. I mean, I had to check what hat the dinosaur was wearing out front!

Playscape

When I became a mom, I knew that I wanted to take my son to create those same memories that I had. The Children’s Museum became a pretty important place for us. We were always playing in Playscape. Joshua’s favorite was the water tables. Well, to be more specific, he loved splashing in the water tables! We would spend hours splashing and playing then head for story time and a carousel ride. He would play until he just couldn’t play anymore.

As he grew, our favorite areas expanded. We would climb aboard the train, play underwater in a submarine, build a city in ancient Egypt, and we always had to stop to see the Polar Bear! ScienceWorks and Dinosphere were always, and are still, our favorites—even now that he is 12!

I really can’t imagine a year going by that we don’t visit the museum regularly. In the exhibits that we used to just look through or play in, we now find ourselves reading more of the information. Don’t get me wrong—we still play! But it’s so awesome to see not only how much fun my son has, but the lightbulbs that go off during the discovery! The Children’s Museum isn’t just for younger kids!

DinosphereWhile we aren’t at the museum we are busy. Joshua is in choir and wrestling will be starting soon. He’s very into anything tech —YouTube, video games, and he has even been taking coding classes to make his own games. He is in 7th grade, but has plans on going to Indiana University to become a video game designer.

I am a full time blogger, running several websites including It’s a Fabulous Life, Easy Slow Cooker Meals and Fashion For Mom. I also work with companies doing blogger outreach and social media. I love my job!  When I am not working, I love to travel, cook, hang out with our pets (We have 4!) and read.

We are so excited to get started sharing everything we love about The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis with you!
