Introducing Katy Mann, Blog Ambassador

This post was written by Children's Museum Blog Ambassador, Katy Mann. Follow Katy's posts on the blog or follow her on Twitter @indywithkids.

I moved from southern California to Indy on my 21st birthday, so it wasn’t until I had my own children that I had my first experience at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. I’m so happy that they now offer After Dark events for adults, because The Children's Museum is seriously fun for all ages!

My husband Jacob and I have been married for 11 years and we are parents to four exceptional children ages 7 months to 5 years. This fall our daughter will be a student at the The Children’s Museum Preschool, so it’s likely that you’ll find me typing away in the cafeteria a few days a week as I wait for her.

If there’s such a thing as a travel bone, I have a few. I’ve spent time in parts of Africa, Europe,  Guatemala, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. These days I’m sticking a little closer to home and spending a lot of time on the road with my children and husband. We get pretty excited about visiting new places together.

Professionally, I’ve worked with other people’s children and teens for my whole young adult life—being a mom is a totally different scene. I’m the woman behind the Indy with Kids website, newspaper column, and segment on TV. I created the Indy with Kids website to be a resource for busy parents who want to get out and enjoy the community, it’s a space to find things to do and places to go that are hiding right under your feet. In addition to local fun, the website is full of road trip ideas, overnight adventures and opportunities to experience new things with your children.

We’ve always been loud supporters of the Children’s Museum so it’s such an honor to be an official ambassador. I can’t wait to share with you how our learning paths at TCM intersect with our real life outside of the museum.
