All -Time High Attendance Record Shattered at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis!

Wednesday, April 3, 2019

March 2019 went out like a lion at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis as several attendance records were shattered including “the most people to ever attend the museum in a single month.”

It’s no April Fools’ joke that 179, 407 visitors walked through the gates of the museum during the month of March 2019. That is nearly 3,500 more guests than came in October 2014, when 175, 951 families and children set the record for most visitors in a month.

The March Lion also roared its gratitude to The Children’s Museum members who likewise visited more than ever before during a single month in the 94 year history of the museum. New, popular exhibits such as PAW Patrol: Adventure Play for the preschool set (open now-July 28, 2019), and Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds (closes April 7, 2019) helped bring 88,793 members to the museum in March. That’s up 16 percent from the previous record for member visits in a single month during July 2018 when 76,632 members attended the world’s biggest children’s museum.

“We are thrilled to see so many new faces and familiar ones from near and far enjoy our museum,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum. “We continually strive to engage and entertain families and children with new exhibits and events. We now look forward to the second full season of our indoor/outdoor Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience® which also reopened in March, and to June, when we bring the beautiful culture of Greece to our visitors with the opening of two new exhibits, Treasures of Ancient Greece and Take Me There®: Greece.”

During this first week of April, expected to be the second busiest week of Spring Break, we look forward to serving many more guests especially on April 4th when from 4-8 p.m. guests can visit either the museum or the Riley Sports Legends Experience for $5, or visit both for $7.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis Board of Directors would also like to thank our official partners—Riley Children’s at Indiana University Health, Old National Bank and Ice Miller LLP.
