This festive evening will bring together museum friends, donors, and fossil hunters alike (Adults Only—21+).

Bone Wars: Dinosaurs, Deceit, and Dynamite

Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh were paleontologists who led the Great Dinosaur Rush of the 1870s. They started off as friends who named discoveries after each other. Their pursuit of paleontological preeminence eventually ruined their relationship, sparking a feud that led to sensational accusations of vandalism, corruption, financial mismanagement, plagiarism, and incompetence. Their rivalry led to public humiliation, financial ruin, and destruction of fossils.

Now these bitter enemies will finally have their day in court. Each side will attempt to defend their reputations and set the record straight—once and for all. You, the jury, will help decide: who won The Bone Wars?
