Celebrate 100 days of school at The Children’s Museum! Use observational skills to count special objects throughout the museum. Learn about artifacts familiar to children 100 years ago and listen to a storyteller share some special 100 days stories.

Students will learn how the exhibits at the biggest and best children’s museum are developed! Hear from a member of The Children’s Museum exhibits team and participate in STEM-based activities about exhibit design and production.

Unearth the world of dinosaurs as you explore the museum’s extensive dinosaur fossil collection, including a mummified dinosaur named Leonardo. Talk with paleontologists about how bones are discovered and touch a real fossil. Investigate the unique features of dinosaurs such as their skin, claws, and teeth. Put your observation skills to the test as you participate in a simulated dinosaur dig.

Grades 3–5

Students will learn about people, places, and events that are significant to black heritage in Indiana. They will have an opportunity to listen to a storyteller, participate in African-inspired music and art, and interact with cultural artifacts to deepen their understanding of the contributions of African Americans in our community.

On Kindergarten Days, the number of older students is limited to provide kindergarten groups a more exclusive opportunity to experience the museum. Through special activities designed using Indiana Academic Standards, students will be introduced to our permanent exhibits. Make this event complete by preordering your Carousel tickets. Tickets cost $1 per person.

Put your engineering skills to the test! Explore sound, forces, light, and simple machines as you complete engineering challenges. Learn about the importance of creating a prototype and testing an engineering design.

Listen to fairy tales from across the globe. Students will create their own storybook characters, discover different versions of the familiar Cinderella tale, and see a real glass slipper from the museum’s collection of artifacts.

Grades 6–8

Admission is free for registered students and one (1) adult for every five (5) students. Space is limited.

Join us for a special Holocaust Day of Remembrance. The Children’s Museum is proud to host this special event for the 10th year in a row. Participants will hear the compelling story of a Holocaust Survivor, see a special performance by students from McCutcheon High School, and participate in commemorative activities. (Unit of Study)

Join local students and community groups in an exploration of ways to make schools and communities more sustainable. Learn about recycling, native species, watersheds, resource management, and energy conservation. During your visit, make sure to visit Dow AgroSciences ScienceWorks and view the museum’s rooftop garden.
