Celebrate New Year’s Eve Family Style! Say Goodbye 2021, Hello 2022—Countdown to Noon in Festive Fashion

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Confetti will fly and families will cheer when North America’s largest Water Clock counts down to the New Year at noon and again at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Yes, it’s a little earlier than the traditional midnight countdown, but this party helps children and families celebrate together well before bedtime. Grab a festive headband to ring in the New Year with style (while supplies last)!

Special activities during Countdown to Noon include:

  • Zak Morgan Band - Come sing and dance with Grammy nominated musician, Zak Morgan, as he rocks the Atrium and leads the countdowns at noon and 1 p.m. Ring in 2022 with confetti, music, and fun!
  • New Year’s Around the World – Discover how to send New Year’s greetings to friends all over the world. Match the language to the country. Learn how to pronounce New Year’s greetings in different languages.
  • 2021 Family Paper Time Capsules – Celebrate the end of another year by creating paper time capsules to capture all of the lessons learned and memories made in 2021. Snap a photo in front of the banner and add it to a journal to remember 2021.
  • Inventing the Future – Explore unique and unexpected inventions and work to create an invention to improve the lives of future generations.

Jolly Days: Winter Wonderland gives families a place to visit Santa through Dec. 24, 2021, while the exhibit remains open through Jan. 2, 2022.  Join in faux fishing, ice (sock) -skating and holiday baking. Climb an ice castle and push a button to make it snow in a huge magical globe.

The museum offers free admission to children and families on December 24, 2021.

Please note the museum is open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. that day. Plenty of family activities are  provided during this festive time so that families can always experience something new. Check the programming available by visiting the museum’s online calendar.

  • December 20, 2021
  • December 27, 2021

Don’t forget— earlier this season, children visiting the museum tested and voted on the best toys of 2021. Find the Kid-Tested, Kid-Approved list here, and be sure to visit The Museum Store in person or online to purchase gifts.
