Award-winning Museum Complex

Founded in 1925, The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is a nonprofit institution committed to creating extraordinary family learning experiences across the arts, sciences, and humanities that have the power to transform the lives of children and families.

It’s the largest children’s museum in the world with a 482,950 square-foot campus situated on 29 acres, a 130,000+ object collection, and more than 1.2 million visitors a year. This includes the vastness of the museum itself, and the 12 sports experiences and three exhibits in the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience®.

Simply put, The Children’s Museum is an extraordinary campus with something to experience for all children and families. But don’t take our word for it…

The Children’s Museum is arguably the area’s most magnetic force, luring visitors from virtually every state in the country and six of seven continents.
Anthony Schoettle, Indianapolis Business Journal

Consistently ranked as one of the best in the country by parenting and travel magazines, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum is a mix of our Science Center, Magic House, and City Museum in one 472,900-square-foot building.
Jodi Mitori, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The Children’s Museum is a powerhouse economic driver. It’s by far the biggest, most extensive, and most impressive museum of its kind anywhere in the Midwest or along the East Coast. So it doesn’t surprise me what a draw this facility is.
Jay Gladden, dean of IUPUI’s School of Physical Education and Tourism Management

Exhibits are all about hands-on learning. For example, dinosaur lovers will go crazy for Dinosphere: Now You're in Their World®, where kids don't just look at real dinosaur skeletons; they dig for bones and get to touch a T-Rex bone. In fact, there are over 120,000 artifacts for families to check out at this museum, so make it an all-day event (or, if you live close by, spring for a membership and return again and again.)
