Kathy Mathena is the COO and CIO and has been at the museum since 2019. She raised her four children coming to the museum. Fast forward a few years and the roles were reversed—her grown children brought her to see the Terracotta Warriors, which had long been on her bucket list. 

Kathy works with a philanthropic group called Kappa Kappa Sigma, which started over 105 years ago at Arsenal Tech High School. The organization raises money for targeted charities. 

As an employee, Kathy’s proudest was the opening of Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley: Let the World See.
