Step into an ethereal world full of acclaimed Ghanaian-Canadian artist Ekow Nimako’s sculptures, made out of LEGO® elements. Surprises will lurk around every corner in this otherworldly exhibit full of textured traditional and contemporary stories of Black cultures—with works ranging from African deities and mythological beings to interstellar tribal masks.

About the Artist

Ekow Nimako is a Ghanaian-Canadian, internationally exhibiting artist who crafts futuristic and whimsical sculptures using black LEGO® elements. Rooted in his childhood practice and intrinsic creativity, Nimako’s formal arts education and background as a lifelong multidisciplinary artist inform his process and signature aesthetic. His fluid building style, coupled with the Afrofuturistic themes of his work, beautifully transcend the geometric medium to embody organic and fantastical silhouettes.
