If you’ve ever wondered what to get that special little girl or boy on your list and wished an expert could guide you – today is your lucky day!
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis invited kids of all ages to visit The Museum Store to play with and then vote on their favorite toys in the 16th annual Kid-tested, Kid-approved event! Thirty of the store’s most popular toys were taken out of boxes and the kids were set loose to experiment, race, throw, and squish.
Here is what made the Top Ten Toys for Kid-tested, Kid-approved in order of most votes:

“This is sooo cool,” said 9-year-old Justin Blakely about the Super Slam Basketball. “I like that I can compete against my friend who is taller than me and still beat him at hoops!”
Jayme Stout, 16-year-old, liked having a chance to try toys out for herself, “It was really cool because you get a hands-on experience to see what toys are really like. If they get a lot of kids to actually choose what they like most, they’ll sell more and they’ll get a lot of toys kids actually like instead of things parents think their kids will like.”
Grandma Patty Hiatt said, “This helps me for lots of gifts for birthdays, holidays. I love this because I’m tired of buying stuff they play with for a week and then we never see it again.”
“Our award-winning store offers a wide range of engaging and educational toys that encourage creativity and help youngsters at various developmental stages,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “We are hoping this list, as voted on by children themselves, will help parents discover what most interests their special child. Then our holiday helpers in the store can help you pick out the perfect present geared toward a wide variety of ages.”
Don’t forget - Black Friday is only six weeks away. So, mark your calendar for a Black Friday 30% discount that will be available on Nov. 28, 2014 only from 8:30-10 a.m. for all purchases made at The Children’s Museum Store during the annual Santa’s Big Arrival event. In addition to purchases within The Children’s Museum Store, museum memberships also make a great family or grandparent holiday purchase.
Memberships may be purchased at the museum, online at www.childrensmuseum.org/membership, or by calling (317) 334-4000. Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays; the store will be open until 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 to make those last minute holiday purchases.
