11 Tips for the Sports Experience

The Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience® gives families a chance to get in the game! Featuring 12 outdoor and 2 indoor experiences across 7.5 acres, the sports experience offers fun while teaching about sports legends and the health benefits of an active lifestyle. Keep these tips on hand as your team sets out for your legendary visit!

Can’t-Miss Coaches

Check out our coaches in orange! They’re here to inspire your team with action-packed facts about our legends and lead you in drills to develop your own skills.

Hydration is Key!

Staying active is thirsty business and we have water fountains around the experiences to keep every member of the team hydrated! We don’t allow glass in the sports experience, but you can bring your own plastic bottle from home to reuse in the park.

Don’t Hold It

Bathrooms are available in both indoor and outdoor areas! In the sports experience, restrooms are located in the Kohler and Efroymson Pavilions. The bathrooms inside the Efroymson Pavilion are family bathrooms and both the Kohler and Efroymson Pavilions house handicap accessible facilities. The Kohler Pavilion is the large white building next to the golf experience and the Efroymson Pavilion is attached to the Welcome Center and houses our indoor The World of Sport and National Art Museum of Sport

Have a Reunite Plan!

As always, our policy is for children under the age of 18 to be accompanied by an adult in all areas of the museum—and this is especially important in the sports experience. If your family does become separated, it’s important to have a “reunite plan”! Decide on a central location to gather if you lose each other (the Tree of Sports is a great landmark for this). Safety is our top priority and all staff are trained to safely reunite families, so family members can always approach a “Coach” in orange or any staff member wearing a museum badge for help to be reunited.

Pro tip: Take a clear photo of each of your kiddos' in the clothing they're wearing so you can easily show staff who they're on the lookout for!

No Band-Aid? No Problem!

There’s so much to do in the sports experience, but be careful not to trip over yourself trying all the sports. Whether you get a scraped knee or your tennis elbow flares up, we have first aid-certified staff available on-site for all minor aches and bruises, as well as EMTs. Safety is always our top priority!

Don’t Get Lost!

To get to our mini yard of bricks in the Racing Experience (and the rest of the sports fun), first head for the WALL of bricks in the Welcome Center! The entrance to the sports experience is on the opposite side of the Box Office from the regular museum entry gates. Once you pick up your tickets in the Welcome Center, turn back towards Bumblebee to head into the sports experience under the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience® sign!
