Exploration Builds Confidence

He loves it and has learned so much adventuring through the museum and it's exhibits. However, his exploration in the museum has led him to an even greater treasure than expected. Spencer had a stroke in-utero and has cerebral palsy. He also has been diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder, seizures and autism. All of these issues seperately can be hard on a kiddo but collectively they make even simple tasks more difficult, including socialization.

In addition to visiting the museum, Spencer has attended many of the classes offered. This previous Saturday, he attended a class with Ms. Lisa. At story time, he raised his hand and asked an appropriate question relating to the story. The first time he has ever done this. I was so proud of him that I cried. It was then that I realized that through all the exhibits and exploring at the museum, he found his voice. He found confidence to raise his hand and ask a question. I am so proud of him and I am so proud to be a member of the Children's Museum. The staff, teachers and Rex (Spencer's favorite) are the true treasures!
