Inspired by the Museum: Hungry Pirate Halloween Snack Mix

Can you believe Halloween is only a couple weeks away? Crazy isn’t it? For us, it seems like once October 31st is upon us, it’s a downhill rush. We blink, and it's New Year’s! But for now, we're going to celebrate all things spooky and fun!

I love the fun and whimsical side to this holiday—not so much the scary part. I think kids get a lot more out of giggling and enjoying themselves this time of year, rather than screaming in fright. But I realize many out there like to have the “boos” and the “ahhhhs” this time of year, so I’m so thankful our beloved Children’s Museum acknowledges that there are both types of fun to be had on Halloween.

From October 10–31st, kids of all ages—even the kids-at-heart adults—can visit the Pirate's Revenge Haunted House. It offers visitors a chance to sail to No Rules Island with Captain Crossbones in search of treasure, complete with a sea monster! But the greatest part? Kids that scare easily can enjoy the adventure during IPL's “Lights-On” hours; while those who are a bit braver can get spooked during the Defender Direct's Frightening hours. The best of both worlds, so kids of all scare levels can get in on the pirate adventure! I really appreciate the fact the Children’s Museum recognizes there are kids out there, especially younger ones, that can’t take so much fright this time of year, but shouldn’t have to miss out on the Halloween festivities.

And when you take your little ghosts and goblins home, you can give them some of this tasty (and super simple!) snack mix to munch on while you watch your favorite pumpkin-inspired movie. It's also perfect for kids' parties, or even after-school snacks!

Be sure to enjoy every second of fun that Halloween has to offer! After all, it will be here and gone before we know it!
