The Experience of a Lifetime

It's been a while since I've been to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, maybe a couple of years, but I have and will always will love the Children's Museum first. It's my museum. It's the museum to which I compare all other museums, which doesn't work out so well when you can touch and experience things you can't necessarily do at another museum. And you can totally be a kid again, especially when you're with little kids. There is something for everyone.

But what I loved best is the experience I got was being a volunteer. I was part of the Y2Tech department a decade ago. It was behind the scenes mostly, but for some of the traveling exhibits, Star Wars Phantom Menace & Andy Warhol, we got to be out there and adding to a visitor's experience. Since I was a volunteer, I could play around during breaks and explore new exhibits or re-experience old ones. What I miss one week, I'll get to see the next. If it weren't for my busy schedule and the amount of time I would have needed to volunteer since Y2Tech was being phased out, I would like to think that I'd still be there to this day volunteering and I would make sure that my 5 and 1 year old cousin got the best experience ever.
