Jump, fly, dive, and climb as you explore some of the most extreme sports in the world – only at Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits, opening June 6 at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis!
“Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits gives families a new way to explore how the body and mind work together to achieve incredible feats,” said Jennifer Pace Robinson, president and CEO of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “This temporary exhibit invites visitors to challenge themselves, think differently about what it takes to push the limits, and discover the science behind extraordinary human performance in the world of extreme sports.”
Learn what it takes to maximize your potential while you explore the psychology and science behind the thrills and spills of a variety of adventure sports. First, step inside the minds and bodies of extreme sports athletes to understand how they prepare, train, and participate in their chosen sports. Then, evaluate your first aid knowledge through everyday accidents and injuries. Now you’re ready to attempt a variety of simulated extreme sports challenges!
Test your balance and coordination on a high-line “high” above the ground, design, build, and slide down a course as a snowboarder, immerse yourself in a 360-degree virtual experience of mountain biking and whitewater kayaking, test your strength and experiment with your grip to get your best hang time on a kid-sized hanging wall, and so much more. Extreme Sports demonstrates that these activities require an elite level of technical skill, high intelligence, and quick decision-making abilities.
Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits is a traveling exhibit, so it will only be at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for a limited time – come check it out before it’s gone! The exhibit can be found on Level 1 as you make your way outdoors into the 7.5-acre sports wonderland, the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience.
Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits is developed and produced by Science North, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in partnership with the Ontario Science Centre.
