Celebrate Freedom with FREE Admission at The Children’s Museum’s Annual Juneteenth Jamboree!

May 2026 · Back to press releases

Celebrate family and freedom with a FREE admission day at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for our annual Juneteenth Jamboree on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Reservations are required to ensure entry (members do not need to reserve tickets). Registration for free tickets opens May 27 at 9 a.m. at childrensmuseum.org/juneteenth or by calling 317-334-4000.

At the Juneteenth Jamboree, the museum works with local community partners to help share authentic stories that teach the history and significance of Juneteenth through themed programming, activities, and experiences.

“We look forward to celebrating with our community as we honor the rich history and significance of Juneteenth,” said Jennifer Pace Robinson, president and CEO of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “For more than three decades now, The Children’s Museum has been dedicated to commemorating this monumental day of freedom and equality. Our goal is to inspire children to embrace diverse cultures, offer a space for celebration, and showcase a powerful legacy of resilience.”

Various activities and experiences this year include live performances by the Griot Drum Ensemble, Freetown Village Singers, and the G3 Steppers dance group, Juneteenth Story Time with Portia Jackson, the Little Miss and Miss Indy Juneteenth dresses display, among other themed programming tied to Juneteenth history and celebration. The Community Marketplace will be available in the Sunburst Atrium, with numerous local community resources and shopping opportunities to discover.

New this year is the Crispus Attucks: Representing the Revolution display on Level 2, built in celebration of America 250. Crispus Attucks: Representing the Revolution tells the story of Crispus Attucks, both the revolutionary man and the legacy of the Indianapolis high school named in his honor. In the display case will be several unique artifacts from the Revolutionary War and from Crispus Attucks High School. Nearby on the display wall will be several pieces of handmade artwork crafted from a variety of local Black artists.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is also proud to participate in the Indy Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 21 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The ninth annual Juneteenth parade, festival, and fireworks show will happen from 4 to 10 p.m.
