The Indianapolis 500 Is Right Around the Corner
It's May.
It's Indianapolis.
That means one thing: it's the fastest month in Indiana!
And we are here for it at The Children's Museum.
Our Dinos are ROARING Into May
Well...
This isn't exactly true.
There are two reasons why saying the Alamosaurus family that's bursting out of our facility is "roaring" into the fastest month in Indianapolis might be a bit of a misstatement:
2. In order to understand these prehistoric creatures, paleontologists have to have gather data from their relatives in the modern world. They use this information to fill in the gaps and make educated conclusions. The closest relatives to dinosaurs? Birds and crocodiles. As you know, birds and crocodiles don't roar. Birds chirp, tweet, and coo. The closest dinosaurs might have come to a roar is something similar to the rumble of a crocodile. Science is about following the evidence. And the current evidence has led scientists to conclude that dinosaurs did not roar.
With all of that being said, our bursting dinos with their giant milk jug and larger-than-life-sized victory wreath are still pretty cool!
About that Victory Wreath
Owner of Buck Creek In Bloom, Julie Harman Vance, has been the official Indianapolis Motor Speedway 500 Winner’s wreath maker since 1992. She partnered with our production team to design this giant, dino-sized wreath to be an exact replica of the real BorgWarner wreath the winner will receive each year.
There are 33 custom-made orchids, checkered flags, and 30 feet of red, white, and blue ribbon adorning the wreath. Take a look at how we put it all together:

Explore History
In 1991, Willy T. Ribbs became the first Black driver to qualify for the Indianapolis 500, breaking a long-held color barrier. The race car that he drove in 1991 and again in 1993 is on display in The World of Sports on Level 1.
