Working as a Product Designer for Hasbro, the most highly acclaimed boys action brand, is truly a dream come true. From the moment I decided to pursue a career in Toy Design, I knew I wanted to be submerged in only THE BEST of its kind! From toys, cartoons and movies, I wanted to be a major part of the creative force responsible for the magic that intrigued me as a child. Like every little boy who grew up in the 80’s, my toy collection could never be complete without an extensive collection of Transformers robots, fast (and shiny) toy vehicles, that change into cool funky robots with intriguing puzzle play that would keep me busy way past my bedtime.
An early memory I have of growing up in New York City, was trying to beat the sweltering summer heat! With a few of my Transformers toys in hand, I decided to play indoors, sitting on the cool tiles next to one of our breezy Queens apartment windows. I remember being instantly inspired by the sounds of midday traffic, the construction site across the street and the heavy machinery grinding against gravel, coming through the open window.
The sounds of course, were coming from no other than Optimus Prime himself! With every SCREECH! and BANG! I heard, the unwavering commander of the Autobots lead his way through an epic battle, defeating the evil Megatron yet again! I remember at one point even using the sun light coming through my mother’s venetian blinds, as deadly lasers!
Unforgettable memories like those are what keep me inspired to create. Whether it be observing my nieces and nephews playing with their tablets and other electronic entertainment, or seeing an entirely new generation of children in absolute awe as they stroll through the toy aisles, my imagination is constantly being fueled. This, along with the complete bragging rights that come along with being a Toy Designer for the coolest toy company ever, could never be more gratifying!
