What to Expect at Museum Before Midnight

By Brandi Thomas, Programs Teacher, School and Family Programs

Dust off your poodle skirts, tie dye, and sunglasses and help the museum celebrate in style! Your favorite annual family program is back! Museum Before Midnight is right around the corner and it's going to be a party for the decades…literally.

Did you know The Children’s Museum is celebrating its 90th anniversary? We're celebrating in a big way! To commemorate our 90th year, we'll be going back in time to some of your favorite decades and exhibits. Who remembers the log cabin or the cave? What would it be like to talk to Grace Golden, the Museum’s first female director? Join us at Museum Before Midnight on September 12 to find out!

Museum Before Midnight is a unique family event that includes admission to nearly all of the museum’s exhibits, a delicious pasta dinner, and many extra opportunities available only at this event, like...

  • This year you can make your own mini lava lamp…groovy baby!
  • Learn about space travel through the decades.
  • Take pictures with our old-time backdrops.
  • Show off your own style as you come dressed in clothing from your favorite decade.
  • Get an up-close look at unique objects from the museum's collection and see if you can guess what they are.
  • Be on the lookout—rumor has it museum characters come to life at night. You never know who you might run in to…maybe even Rosie the Riveter or other influential people in the museum’s history.

Join us at this extraordinary program where the family fun is out of this world! As always this party of the century ends with a rocking dance party in our atrium, this year led by Eight Days a Week—a Beatles cover band! You don’t want to miss this!

Save the date—September 12 from 6:30–9:00 p.m.—and be sure to register! Your ticket gets you attendance to the event, dinner and dessert, and tons of family fun! Be there or be square!
