Book Favorite Becomes Musical Favorite Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile at The Children’s Museum

Singing and tap-dancing off the page, onto the stage and into your heart, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, comes to life in The Lilly Theater.

In this musical, Lyle, the green, clean crocodile will grace the stage, March 11 to April 19, 2014 - just in time for spring break.

Adapted from Bernard Waber’s infamous children’s book, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, this musical may have a unique big band sound of its own, but the characters and storylines are familiar to those who have met the dapper, well-behaved Lyle. Those who have not read Waber’s books will come to love these darling characters as they leap and sing across the 60’s themed stage.

The 45 minute long comedy has a heart-warming conclusion as Lyle overcomes the challenges of moving to a new city. Children and adults alike are reminded of a valuable lesson, to love people (and crocodiles) for what they are.

“Immersing children in professional theater at a young age reinforces the important role the performing arts play,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “By bringing a childhood favorite book to life, it is our hope we can inspire our visitors to get involved in theater, which can encourage creative thinking and help with reading comprehension, oral communication and building self-esteem.”
