Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale A “Grimm” Fairy Tale Gets a Quirky, Funny Twist at The World’s Largest Children’s Museum

Let your hair down and have fun with the family during this musical comedy written for the enjoyment of all ages.  Lilly Theater, located inside The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, will transform into a magical castle complete with a tall tower where Princess Rapunzel has become trapped by the evil Lady Za Za. Families are invited to enjoy the humorous tale from June 25 – August 4, 2013.

Who will come to her rescue?  A cast of comic characters (including Edgar  “hair dresser to the princess”) will certainly do what they can to restore Rapunzel to her rightful place as ruler of the kingdom.

This 45 minute long comedy, written by Janet Yates and Mark Friedman, debuted in Cincinnati in 2011. The original musical score ranges from pop to country.  Evil Lady Za Za, the kidnapper who wants to be queen, sings the hilarious “It’s All About Me!”

“The Lilly Theater holds a unique place within the Indianapolis theater community.  Immersing children in professional theatre at a young age reinforces the important role theatre and the performing arts play,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “Our incredible staff of professional actors, directors, producers, set designers, builders and costumers carefully select and perform quality works that educate and entertain.”
