“Literacy is fundamental to our lives,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president and CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “We encourage families to read together to help develop those skills in young ones and to bond over books while creating new family memories.”

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is also proud to announce it will be the location featured in the latest book in the bestselling children’s picture book series Larry Gets Lost™.   In Larry Gets Lost at the Museum, the adorable puppy will explore exhibits and discover how much fun he can have learning.  The series of “Larry” books are often used in school lesson plans because they contain accurate, factual information about the cities and destinations in which Larry gets lost. The Children’s Museum Guild will put the book in the hands of thousands of young readers through its literacy outreach program.  The book is expected to be available for sale in August 2013.

The museum is also proud to have a branch of the Indianapolis Public Library within the walls of the museum called infoZone Library. “It’s never too early to help our young ones develop the love of reading.  The library offers My First Cards, which are official library cards for the birth through 6 year old crowd, and Bunny Book Bags which contain an assortment of age appropriate books for infants through kindergarteners. We definitely encourage families to stop in and check out the Larry Gets Lost series!” said Joan Emmert, Manager of the infoZone Library.
